Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic has the following divisions: General Gynecology, Obstetrics, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and Gynecologic Oncology.
The Obstetrics and Gynecology in-patient clinics are situated on the 5th floor of the Marmara
University Hospital in-patient service building. Obstetrics, Gynecology, Gynecologic Emergency, and the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility outpatient clinics are on the 1st floor of the outpatient building. The obstetrics ward has 25 beds. The gynecology ward has 10 beds. There are 8 patient beds and 3 labor rooms in the labor and delivery ward on the 2nd floor.
Divisions and Programs
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology comprises a range of clinical settings and administrative units that provide residents and interns with diverse training opportunities.
Division of General Gynecology
The Division of General Gynecology provides women of all ages comprehensive primary and tertiary-level outpatient services, including prenatal care, gynecologic care, family planning,
urogynecology, pediatric gynecology, and colposcopy. All types of operative laparoscopic and hysteroscopic interventions are performed.
The Division serves as a training site for medical students, residents, and conducts numerous
research studies in women's primary care and reproductive health issues.
Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Fertility
The Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Fertility offers a complete range of assisted
reproductive technologies, from ovulation induction and intrauterine insemination to controlled ovarian hyperstimulation and intracytoplasmic sperm injection. In addition, the division is dedicated to the furtherance of education, research and clinical care in reproductive medicine and surgery, adhesiology, reproductive anomalies, menopause, endometriosis, pediatric gynecology, and disorders of puberty, ovulatory function, hirsutism, and galactorrhea. Advanced fertility enhancing laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery are successfully performed. Severe stage endometriosis surgery is also accomplished laparoscopically.
Division of Gynecologic Oncology
Treatment recommendations consider both the exact type of malignancy and the circumstances of the patient and her family.
Gynecologic Emergency Unit
The Gynecologic Emergency Unit serves as Ob Gyn emergency department, providing acute care for obstetrical and gynecologic urgent and emergent problems during work hours, five days a week. It coordinates with labor and delivery, and inpatient gynecology floors.
Division of Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery
The Division of Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery provides diagnosis and treatment for women with voiding and associated pelvic floor abnormalities.
Laparoscopic repairs for paravaginal defects, pelvic organ prolapse (uterine prolapse, cuff prolapse) are performed extensively. The division offers transvaginal mesh systems for prolapse repair and stress urinary incontinence.
